Temperatures are expected to soar into the upper 90s, with heat index values ranging between 105 and 109 degrees. The National Weather Service in Shreveport warns that even with an increase in afternoon rain chances, the intense heat will persist.
According to the National Weather Service, a disturbance moving into the region will bring cloud cover and rain, particularly in the afternoon hours. Precipitation chances are highest in the eastern parts of the region, with a 50% chance of rain in areas like El Dorado and Monroe. Despite the rain, temperatures across Shreveport and surrounding areas will peak around 98 degrees, with some locations, such as Natchitoches, reaching as high as 100 degrees.
The extended forecast indicates continued high temperatures through the week. Thursday will see a high of 92 degrees with partly cloudy skies. The heat intensifies on Friday and Saturday, with highs of 97 degrees under mostly sunny conditions. The trend continues into Sunday with a high of 98 degrees and sunny skies. The beginning of next week remains hot, with highs of 96 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday.
