Louisville, KY – Two tornadoes touched down in Jefferson County and Harrison County, KY, on the Fourth of July, causing some damage.
The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that an EF-0 tornado hit Harrison County with peak winds of 80 mph and a path length of approximately one mile. Meanwhile, an EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 95 mph struck Jefferson County, carving a path over half a mile long through a neighborhood.
According to the NWS, the tornadoes occurred between 1:06 and 1:28 PM EDT on Thursday. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in either county. The storms caused property damage, with officials conducting ongoing assessments.
Today’s forecast predicts partly cloudy conditions from 5 AM to 7 AM, with a 55% chance of thunderstorms expected around 2 PM. Temperatures will range from a low of 73°F in the morning to a high of 84°F in the afternoon.
