Kankakee Man Arrested Following Fatal Hit-and-Run of Bradley Man Sunday Night

Bradley, IL – A Kankakee man has been arrested after a hit-and-run incident Sunday night that resulted in the death of a Bradley resident.

According to Bradley Police, Ryan McGrath, 44, was found unconscious at approximately 9:03 p.m. on S Bradley Blvd, just north of Liberty St. Authorities determined McGrath had been struck by a gray SUV, which fled the scene. McGrath was pronounced dead at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital, and the case was handed over to the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office.

The Illinois State Police conducted a crash reconstruction, and on Monday, Bradley Police identified the suspect vehicle. Vernon Hooker, 50, of Kankakee, was arrested for failure to report an accident resulting in a death. Hooker is being held at Jerome Combs’ Detention Center awaiting a detention hearing.
