Kankakee County Braces for Isolated Thunderstorms This Afternoon

Chicago, IL – Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, primarily south of the Kankakee River, according to the US National Weather Service in Chicago. Although severe weather is not anticipated, residents should be prepared for gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall, which may cause minor flooding in low-lying areas and ditches.

According to the National Weather Service, the thunderstorms are expected to move through the region from now until around 4 PM. Lightning strikes are also a potential threat during these storms.
