Kankakee Business Hit by ATM Thief Who Cuts Hole in Roof

Kankakee, IL – A daring ATM theft occurred late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning when a thief cut a hole in the roof of a Kankakee business to gain entry.

According to Kankakee City Police, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South Nelson just before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. The business owner arrived to open for the day and discovered the break-in. The suspect reportedly accessed the building by cutting a hole in the roof and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the ATM.

The police are actively investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed to identify potential suspects. Authorities believe the suspect may have used specialized tools to cut through the roof and are examining evidence left at the scene.

This bold theft has raised concerns among local business owners, prompting increased security measures.
